Curtains
What are made-to-measure curtains and are they worth it?
Made-to-measure curtains are sewn precisely to the width and drop of your window, in your chosen fabric, lining and heading style. They hang correctly, drape properly, insulate noticeably better than ready-made alternatives, and look like they actually belong to the room. Coventry Blinds supplies and fits made-to-measure curtains across Coventry and Warwickshire, with a free home survey to measure and advise on fabric.
Curtain Lining Options — Compared
| Lining Type | Best For | Key Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Unlined | Living rooms, lightweight fabrics | Allows light to filter through; soft, relaxed drape |
| Standard Lining | Most rooms | Protects face fabric from UV; adds body and structure |
| Blackout Lining | Bedrooms, nurseries | Blocks light completely; adds useful thermal insulation |
| Interlining | Formal rooms, period homes | Heaviest option; maximum insulation, sound reduction, luxurious drape |
Can curtains and blinds be used together?
Yes — layering curtains over roller or Roman blinds is one of the most popular window treatments we fit, especially in living rooms and bedrooms. The blind handles day-to-day privacy and light control; the curtains add warmth, softness and a proper finishing frame to the window. We design layered treatments to your exact window dimensions during the free home survey.

There’s a reason customers come back to us for their curtains year after year. When you invest in a set of well-made, properly lined curtains, fitted to your exact windows, it shows — in how they hang, how they pool on the floor, how they actually frame the room. And then it goes on showing, year after year.
We’ve been making and fitting curtains for Coventry and Warwickshire homes since 2007 — from our own workshop on Endemere Road, by the same family-run team that measures and fits every job. It’s a craft we take seriously. The difference between curtains that hang beautifully and ones that look just slightly off usually comes down to the measuring, the lining choice and the quality of the fabric — and that’s where our experience earns its keep.
Made to measure, not made to fit
Ready-made curtains are designed to a standard drop and width. Your windows almost certainly aren’t standard, especially in older Coventry properties where two centuries of building have introduced some creative geometry. When curtains don’t quite fit — hanging short of the floor, or not meeting in the middle — it undermines the whole look of the room and quietly bothers you every time you walk in.
Our curtains are made to your exact window dimensions, with a heading style and drop chosen to suit your ceiling height and the proportions of the room. We measure everything ourselves during the free home consultation.
Choosing your fabric
We work with leading UK fabric suppliers, which means you have access to hundreds of fabrics — from light, airy sheers and voiles through to heavyweight velvets, linens and patterned weaves. During your home visit we bring sample books so you can see how different fabrics behave in your own natural light, with your existing furnishings around you. It’s the only way to know if that bold botanical print is going to lift the room or quietly fight everything in it.
Getting the lining right
The lining makes a bigger difference than most people realise. A well-lined curtain hangs better, insulates better, and protects the face fabric from sun damage, which means your curtains keep their colour and structure for years longer.
We’ll guide you through the options — from standard lining for everyday rooms through to blackout and thermal linings for bedrooms and rooms where temperature control matters. Interlining is also available for that proper luxury feel in formal rooms and period properties.
Our full curtain service
From your first call to the final hanging, we handle the lot. We measure, advise on fabrics and headings, manage manufacture in our Coventry workshop, and fit the curtains so they hang correctly from day one. We dress the pleats and folds before we leave — that’s the bit that separates “professionally fitted” from “a bloke and a stepladder”.
We also fit curtain poles and tracks as part of the service. If you already have something in place, we’ll work with it; if you’d like us to supply something that suits the curtains, we’ll bring options.

Frequently Asked Questions — Curtains Coventry
Are made-to-measure curtains worth the extra cost?
For most homes, yes. Ready-made curtains rarely fit exactly — the drop is wrong, the width is wrong, or they don’t meet properly in the middle. Made-to-measure curtains hang correctly, look properly finished, and tend to last considerably longer because the fabric and construction quality is in a different league to off-the-shelf.
How long does it take from order to fitting?
Typically 2-4 weeks from placing your order, depending on fabric availability and our fitting schedule. We’ll give you a realistic timeline at the survey.
What curtain lining is best for bedrooms?
Blackout lining is the right choice for bedrooms because it blocks light completely and adds useful thermal insulation. For a properly luxurious bedroom curtain, interlining adds an extra padded layer between the face fabric and the blackout lining — warmer, quieter and beautifully heavy.
Can curtains and blinds be used together?
Yes — layering curtains over blinds is one of the most popular treatments we fit. Roller or Roman blinds handle privacy and light control day to day; curtains add warmth, softness and a finishing frame. We design the layered look during the free home survey.
Can you match curtains to existing blinds or décor?
We’ll do our best to find something that works beautifully with what you already have. Bring photos to your consultation, or better still, let us visit your home so we can see the room properly — matching tones is much easier in person.
Do you fit curtain poles and tracks?
Yes — we supply and fit poles and tracks to suit your curtains, properly levelled and securely fixed. If you already have something in place, we’ll work with it.
Do you have a Coventry showroom?
