Venetians have been around forever, and there’s a good reason. No other blind gives you quite the same level of control over light direction — tilt the slats up and you bounce light toward the ceiling; tilt them down and you shade the room while keeping airflow; raise them entirely and you have an unobstructed view. Endlessly adjustable, and they look as good in a 1930s Coventry semi as they do in a glassy new-build.

Aluminium, faux wood or real wood?
The material you choose is mostly determined by the room the blind is going in:
- Aluminium — lightweight, hygienic, wipe-clean. A wide range of slat widths and colours, from classic white and silver to bolder tones. Brilliant for kitchens, home offices, and modern interiors where a clean, minimal look matters. Also a sensible bathroom choice — aluminium won’t warp in humidity.
- Faux wood — the look and feel of real wood from PVC-composite materials that won’t warp, crack or discolour in damp conditions. Tougher than real wood and looks better for longer in rooms with fluctuating temperature and humidity. Our top recommendation for kitchens, bathrooms and conservatories.
- Real wood — available on request. Brings natural grain and warmth to living rooms and studies where moisture isn’t a concern. Talk to us if you’d like to explore this; it isn’t in our standard range but we have good supplier access.
Slat size matters more than you’d think
Standard Venetian blinds come in 25mm and 50mm slat widths. The difference isn’t just aesthetic — it changes how the blind reads in the window and how much light control you have. Narrower 25mm slats give a more traditional look with more slats visible. Wider 50mm slats create a bolder, contemporary feel — closer to a shutter effect when open. We bring examples of both to the survey so you can see which suits your window proportions in the actual room.
The mechanism — getting it right
A Venetian blind is only as good as its mechanism. A poorly fitted blind will tilt unevenly, jam at one end, or develop a slow twist that gets noticeably worse over time. We use robust headrails and quality tilt mechanisms, and we test every blind on installation before we leave. The cords and wands should operate smoothly and stop exactly where you want them. Ours do.

Are Venetian blinds easy to clean?
Yes — a regular dust with a microfibre cloth or the brush attachment on a vacuum keeps them looking sharp. For a deeper clean, the slats can be wiped individually with a damp cloth. Aluminium and faux wood both wipe down easily; real wood needs a slightly gentler hand.
Can you fit Venetian blinds in bathrooms?
Aluminium and faux wood are both suitable for bathrooms. We’d steer you away from real wood in a bathroom — the steam from a daily shower will warp natural timber over time, and that’s avoidable with the right material.
What’s the maximum width you can fit?
A single Venetian blind can typically be made up to around 2.5-3 metres wide. For wider windows, two blinds operated side by side is the usual approach and tends to look better as well.
Do you offer real wood Venetian blinds?
Yes — by request. Real wood isn’t in our standard sample range but we have access to a good selection. Mention it when you book the survey and we’ll bring samples along.
Are Venetian blinds child-safe?
Yes. All our Venetian blinds are supplied with child safety devices meeting current UK regulations. Cordless and wand-operated mechanisms are available as standard for any room used by children or pets.
