Bedroom Plantation Shutters in Coventry
Bedroom shutters do two jobs at once: they give you proper control over the morning light when you want a lie-in, and they give you proper privacy at night without a curtain in the way. Tilt the louvres for a soft filter of daylight, close them fully for the kind of darkness that actually helps you sleep, or open the panels altogether to let the room breathe.
They also, quietly, make a bedroom feel more like a hotel room and less like a place where the curtains haven’t quite been hung straight. The finish is calmer, the lines are cleaner, and the morning routine gets noticeably less chaotic.
At Coventry Blinds we have been designing, making and fitting bedroom shutters across Coventry and Warwickshire since 2007. Every panel is built to your exact window dimensions in our Endemere Road workshop and fitted by our own family-run team. No standard sizes, no shortcuts, and no leaving you on hold when you need an adjustment two years from now.

Why Choose Bedroom Plantation Shutters?
Bedrooms are where shutters really earn their keep. Here is what you get:
- Precise light control — tilt the louvres for filtered morning light, or close them fully for proper rest. Parents of small children find this transformative in summer.
- Genuine privacy — closed shutters give complete privacy from the street. No nervous glancing at the curtains.
- Quiet, hotel-room finish — clean lines, calm surfaces, and no fabric flapping in a draught.
- Real insulation — bedrooms stay noticeably warmer in winter and cooler in summer. Older Coventry properties feel the difference quickly.
- Low maintenance — a quick wipe with a damp cloth. No taking down for dry cleaning, no replacing every few years.
- Optional mid-rail — a horizontal break-rail lets you tilt the top and bottom louvres separately — brilliant for street-facing bedrooms where you want light up high and privacy below.
If you need genuine blackout (south-facing bedrooms, nurseries, shift workers), we will usually recommend solid panel shutters instead. We’ll be honest about which suits your room during the free survey.
Our Survey and Fitting Process
Three steps and your bedroom is a calmer place:
- Free home survey. One of our specialists comes to you, measures every bedroom window with a laser, and brings the full range of timbers, painted finishes, stains and louvre sizes so you can compare them in the actual light of the actual room.
- Bespoke build. Your shutters are made in our Coventry workshop to your exact dimensions, in your chosen material and colour. Quality-checked, factory-finished, then ready for fitting.
- Careful installation. Our own fitters set the frames, hang the panels, test every hinge and louvre, and tidy up before they leave. Most bedroom installations are done in a morning.

Bedroom Shutters — Common Questions
What is the best shutter style for a bedroom?
Full height plantation shutters are the most popular choice for bedrooms because they cover the whole window with one elegant panel and give you maximum light block. For genuine blackout (south-facing rooms, nurseries, shift workers), solid panel shutters are the better choice. We always recommend based on your actual room during the free home survey.
Will bedroom shutters block all the morning light?
Closed louvres significantly reduce the light coming in but won’t give you 100% blackout — some light still creeps through the gaps between louvres. For complete darkness, solid panel shutters are the right call. Many customers find shutters give them the right balance for a normal bedroom.
Are plantation shutters better than curtains for bedrooms?
Both have their place, but shutters last decades, don’t need taking down for dry cleaning, give better insulation, and look noticeably cleaner. Curtains are softer and easier to swap out for a refresh. Many of our customers end up combining the two — shutters for function, curtains over the top for warmth and decoration.
How much do bedroom plantation shutters cost in Coventry?
Standard bedroom windows typically cost from around £290 to £620 depending on size, material and louvre choice. Larger or bay bedroom windows can be more. You’ll get a fully itemised, written quote after your free home survey — with no obligation. See our cost guide for ballpark figures by style.
