Pleated Blinds

Pleated blinds are the blind people overlook — until they see them fitted, at which point everyone wonders why they hadn’t considered them sooner. They fold away to almost nothing when raised, they can be made for windows most other blinds can’t handle (skylights, triangular panels, awkward shapes), and in their thermal honeycomb form they’re among the most energy-efficient window dressings available.
We’ve been making and fitting pleated blinds in conservatories, skylights, shaped windows and ordinary bedrooms across Coventry and Warwickshire since 2007. If you’re not sure whether they’re right for your window, the free survey will tell us straight.
Why pleated blinds work so well in conservatories
Most conservatories have angled roof panels that standard roller or Roman blinds simply can’t fit. Pleated blinds are different — the fabric can be cut and tensioned to fit even steeply angled or triangular panels, sitting flat against the glazing without sagging.
Fitted to the side windows and roof panels of a conservatory, they make a real practical difference all year — reducing summer glare and helping retain warmth in winter. We do a lot of these around Coventry, where the conservatory has often become the de facto extra living room.
Thermal honeycomb blinds
The most thermally efficient pleated blinds use a honeycomb or cellular fabric. Viewed from the side, the fabric forms a series of hexagonal air pockets that trap air and act as an insulating barrier right at the glass surface. The result is a meaningful reduction in heat loss in winter and heat gain in summer.
For older Coventry homes with bigger, draughtier windows, or conservatories that turn into iceboxes in January, honeycomb pleated blinds make a real practical difference. We stock single- and double-cell fabrics at different price points.
Perfect Fit pleated blinds
For uPVC windows, our Perfect Fit pleated blinds are a particularly tidy solution. The frame clips straight into the rubber bead of the window — no screws, no brackets, no drilling. The blind moves with the window when you tilt it open, and there are no gaps around the edges. Particularly good for kitchens and modern bathrooms where you want a clean look without any holes in the frame.
Top-down, bottom-up control
One of the more useful options on pleated blinds is top-down/bottom-up operation — controlling the blind from both ends independently. Want light coming in from the top while keeping the bottom half private from the street? This is the mechanism for it. Sounds technical, takes about three seconds to learn. We demonstrate at every installation.

Frequently Asked Questions — Pleated Blinds Coventry
Can pleated blinds fit skylights?
Yes — pleated blinds are one of the best options for skylights and roof lights. They can be tensioned to lie flat against the glass and are available with UV-resistant fabrics that won’t fade in direct sunlight.
Are pleated blinds available in blackout?
Yes. We stock blackout pleated fabrics for bedrooms and media rooms. Cellular honeycomb blackout fabrics give you both blackout and insulation in one — particularly good for nurseries.
How do you clean pleated blinds?
Most pleated fabrics can be gently vacuumed with a soft brush attachment or wiped with a damp cloth. We’ll advise on specific care during fitting.
How long do pleated blinds last?
A well-made pleated blind with quality fabric typically lasts 8-12 years with light care. We still service pleated blinds we fitted shortly after opening Coventry Blinds in 2007.
